Program Goals and Support

My own goals and the goals of the program go hand in hand. The main thing I want for myself is to be transliterate specifically in the area of mastering how to implement technology such as i pads, applications and web tools in meaningful and purposefully way to engage my various leveled learners. With all the new and valuable information I will have learned from completing this program another goal of mine is to transform myself as an educator with new lessons and new ways to teach by leaving augmentation and becoming redefined.
My thoughts of how my fellow cohort members can support me with completing my capstone would be primarily through their feedback. Because they are the teaching experts I would depend on them to engage in  honest, constructive and helpful discussions from their evaluation of my work. Ask me genuine and clarifying questions, and offer quality suggestions for improvement. In return I would do the same while remembering not to be overbearing, rude or disrespectful to the hard work they have put in so far.
I also believe an important group norm is to assume positive intent. People have different circumstances in their lives(kids, impairments, travel) as we have seen so far that can make the program more challenging so coming together with the right attitude makes a difference in the learning environment.

Alexis,

I feel like we are on the same wave length as far as our goals and how we would like to help each other and receive help. I know that I sometimes when giving and getting constructive criticism that it might be hard to hear since we are pouring so much of our time into our projects, so I am glad that you mentioned positive intent. If we remember that we are all here to help each other and that we are all trying our best while being full time teachers (while balancing other parts of our lives) I think we can work together to help each other have the best semester yet.

Alexis,

I agree with the concept of assuming positive intent. Often, people "try" to read between the lines, and make assumptions and add meaning and purpose that is not present. I find that a lot of interpersonal conflicts could be eliminated if everyone would assume positive intent and not put too much thought or emotion into what they are reading.

Additionally, often, individuals are quick to either judge or become offensive when the author of an email, message, or other printed correspondences. I wonder how we can ensure that others will assume positive intent in reading our emails, etc.

Warm Regards,

Lisa Marie Smith

Alexis,

I really like your goals and its very important because you deal with first graders and you are implementing the building blocks for their educational career. I’m trying to get the most out of the iPad in my class as well. I’m really excited to see your study in actions and will love to give you feedback. First graders are one of my favorite classes to teach also. Also, I give you much props for juggling your personal life, work and doing this program all at the same time. I hope that I can helps give you feedback through the last steps of this program.
